SUNNYVALE, CA. - 13 August 2018 - Single-Sourcing Solutions announced today that Arbortext 102 has sold 100 copies. Last year, the new Arbortext Monster Garage book series announced that it had reached the 100 book milestone. At the time, most of the 100 sales consisted of sales of Arbortext 101. Today, the Arbortext 102 title has reached the 100th book milestone itself.
"We've definitely been seeing an increase in sales of the Arbortext Monster Garage books," said Fraley. "Our method is direct and approachable by novices who have little experience with Arbortext and sales are reflecting that."
Arbortext 102 was first released on October 15th, 2016. While Arbortext 101 continues to be the top selling book, sales of Arbortext 102 have started keeping pace.
“This news comes in the middle of work on the next books about Windchill Arbortext Content Manger,” said Elizabeth Fraley, CEO of Single-Sourcing Solutions. “We're celebrating, but everyone here is working hard to get the next books out.”
The Arbortext Monster Garage book series currently has two titles in it’s catalog:
- Arbortext 101: Best Practices for Configuring, Authoring, Styling, and Publishing with Arbortext
- Arbortext 102: Best Practices for Creating Arbortext Styler Stylesheets
It has the three titles currently in work:
- Arbortext 103: Best Practices for Configuring, Managing, and Publishing Arbortext Content with the PTC Server
- Arbortext 104: Omnibus, vol. 1 (includes bonus content covering Publishing Engine)
- Arbortext 201: Configuring Arbortext for MIL-STD Doctypes
Fraley says that customers have been clamoring for Arbortext 103, but she's taking time out to work on Arbortext 201. "201 is a version of 101 and 103 for military subcontractors. Although 101 is globally applicable, there are some aspects of the MIL-STD deployment that aren't specifically covered in 101. While we've been working on 103 (Windchill), we discovered a need to update 101 for military doctypes and we'll likely have that one ready before 103, simply because the audience is in such deeper need at this time."
Arbortext 201 will cover much of the same material as 103, but it's aimed at military subcontractors. Because of the overlapping concepts, Single-Sourcing Solutions hopes to release both books at the same time. "Once these are done," Fraley said, "we'll be working on one about deploying specialized DITA in the Arbortext environment."
Single-Sourcing Solutions is well-known for responding to customer and community needs. The Arbortext Monster Garage started as a web series before expanding to include web training and the book series. Single-Sourcing Solutions also developed the TC Dojo, a community-driven web series, and TC Camp, the first unconference for technical communicators. Both the TC Dojo and TC Camp are guided by community needs and directly responsive to the changing needs over time.
